Album Notes
Her latest album, “Mearra-Selkie From The Sea” is about the Celtic myth of the Selkie, a mythical seal with the mysterious ability to transform into a human being. Smith’s unique vocal style centers around a folk rock sensibility.
With a sound that crosses genres, Smith appeals to a wide audience having been compared to the likes of Loreena McKinnitt, Natalie Merchant, Jewel and Sarah McLachlan.
Smith has been honored by the Billboard Songwriting Contest. She teaches at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and has been recognized by the Illinois Arts Council in conjunction with the National Endowment for the Arts.
