Album Notes
Linn Brown has been writing and playing music for many years. Her songs have been praised as being honest and worldly.

Linn plays keyboards and sings. She was part of a songwriter’s collective at the Red Herring Coffeehouse in Urbana, Illinois, where she sometimes opened and sang back-ups for Dan Fogelberg. She was part of the weekly songwriter line-up, and was a featured artist at the Fall and Spring Folk Festivals. While living in Boston, MA, she played regularly at the Nameless Coffeehouse in Cambridge. In Ithaca, New York, she performed with The Dean Brothers and was a regular performer at The Rongovian Embassy, Nite Court and the State Street Theatre where she opened for Livingston Taylor. Linn lives in the San Francisco Bay Area and has performed at local venues including The Noe Valley Ministry, The Jazz House, The Red Cafe, World One Day, KBBK Studios, Coast Studios, and A Great Good Place For Books. In the summer of 2006, she performed with her brother, Joel Brown, and friend, Dave Maswick, at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs, NY. She then went to Trumansburg, NY, and played the Stagefright reunion concert at the Rongovian Embassy, with former bandmates, John and Berto Dean. Linn’s father, Frank Brown, stole both sold out shows, when he played his jazz clarinet on her song “Completely Misunderstood”.

In years past, Linn’s music could be heard in the form of television news themes and station promotion songs. She has won contests and media awards for her songs, film scores, music for television, lyrics and poetry. “The Ballad of Lorna Hawkins”, a song about anti-drive-by shooting crusader, Lorna Hawkins, was used in conjunction with The Million Mom March.
Songs from her CDs, “mend” and “Passion and Temperance”, are getting airplay on “The Midnight Special” hosted by Rich Warren, as well as on internet stations and podcasts.

Linn comes from a family of performing musicians. She studied music education at the University of Illinois, and arranging and composition at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Currently, along with writing and recording, Linn gives music lessons and classes for young children, especially for those with developmental disabilities.

Linn will be performing as part of the upcoming Red Herring Reunion,
April 11-13, 2008!

Can't get it out of my head!
Linn's bouncy, bright tunes are infectious! Tunes like "Look Don't Touch" and "Just Wanna Be In Love" are definite "cruising on a sunny day, sing along" songs!

Wonderful songs, wonderful arrangements
Ms Brown weaves together wonderful songs with rich vocal and instrumental arrangements producing a beautiful tapestry with plenty of depth.

Linn knows her stuff
This is a very solid CD, one that you can listen to many times over. Linn´s voice is interesting and perfectly fitted to her songwriting talents. I recommend that anyone give it a listen!

sweet sounds!
Great songs, great voice, pleasant keyboard, excellent backup, & thorough professionalism throughout.

Soul music in the truest sense
This is an impressive, well produced CD from an artist with a very soulful presence. The backing vocals are especially well crafted, as are the songs themselves.
Very reminiscent of Laura Nyro with a dash of Joni Mitchell
thrown in. Soul music in the truest sense.

a great Sunday morning listen....
This a fine CD from a seasoned original voice of folk/jazz music. The construction of the songs is clever, the messages universal but unique. It has an un-insistent, easygoing quality yet it still keeps my attention. A great Sunday morning listen!

Leaves me hopeful and smiling
Linn's lyrics are poignant and pertinent to our hearts. Her clever use of language and sense of humor shines through the travails of love and life. Bravo for music that leaves me hopeful and smiling.

Star Stuff
A star is in the making! Everyone should MEND with Linn Brown!

I really enjoyed the Music, it is very relaxing, and the words are so beautiful.
This CD is a pice of art, the words are beautiful and it is so relaxing to listen to, I highly recommended.

A desert island CD.
Linn Brown definitely has a lot of stories to tell us with her songs. Each song has a drama, which you could visualize while listening as if to watch a series of good short films. Aesthetic, heartbreaking, ultimately filled with joy of life. I take this CD with me whenever I go. She can, always, make me smile, tear, and even jump! Musically Linn Brown's songs are so sophisticated and profound that perhaps long time jazz fanatics like myself cannot resist swinging the heads.
