ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
John Glennie built, owned, and skippered the Rose-Noelle, a sailing trimaran that flipped upside-down in a storm between New Zealand and Fiji in 1989. Mr. Glennie and three other men drifted for 119 days before crashing into Great Barrier Island in New Zealand. He talks about how his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) hampered his telling of the story in his book coauthored with Jane Phare, the Spirit of the Rose-Noelle, 119 Days Adrift, A Survival Story. This story has been the subject of a feature film, Abandoned. Over 25 years after the ordeal, Glennie was ready to tell the whole story. This conversation with Linus Wilson is a great lesson about the do's and don'ts of storm tactics, crew selection and management, and survival at sea.
