ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Liquid Sky are simply stunning” KKKK – Kerrang!
“Liquid Sky manage to carry the symphonic metal in a way that most bands would fail” – RoomThirteen.com
“Liquid Sky were the best band on the side stage [at Bloodstock] this year” – Fireworks Issue 18
“Liquid Sky turn in a very impressive performance” – Zero Tolerance Issue 2

Formed in 2000, LIQUID SKY first gained attention with their self-released EPs “Adrenochrome” (2001) and “Nightfall” (2003) and album “Bloodline” (2004). Displaying a completely new approach to the ‘female vocals in metal’ genre and featuring songs that showcased a never-before-heard mix of metal ferocity and beautiful melody, these releases helped the band develop and solidify a reputation as Britain’s best-kept metal secret.

In recent years, the band have mixed regular support slots with bands such as Skyclad, Skindred, Xandria and Octavia Sperati with incendiary headlining shows, winning them a loyal and constantly expanding army of fans. A blistering performance at the 2004 Bloodstock Festival (alongside such luminaries as Children of Bodom, Threshold, Gamma Ray and Sonata Arctica) was a particular highlight. The band also undertook a co-headlining tour of the UK in 2006 with American band Nicodemus, exposing a whole new group of fans to the LIQUID SKY sound.

The band features the rhythm section of Den Constable on bass and Anthony Marginson on drums, providing a powerful and precise foundation for the band’s epic sound. Guitarists Jonathan Craven and Joseph Rhodes trade punishing rhythms and ferocious lead lines, aided in this furious metal barrage by keyboardists Rick Ogden /Joseph Rhodes, who add sweeping symphonic sounds and electronic wizardry to a well-established metal blueprint. The line-up is completed by singer Hecate Taglietti, whose powerful vocals and soaring melodies both astound and captivate in equal measure.

Awesome stuff from an awesome British Band.
I grew up listening to melodic hard rock, but in those days there was not the femme metal bands that we have now. I also have had the honour recently to review very good albums by British metal bands Adastreia and Crimson Tears. Now we can add Liquid Sky to that list. Fronted by the gorgeous Hecate Taglietti (there is some Italian there somewhere, Jon the guitarist tells me), the band has released a debut album of awesome proportion, which has left me begging for more. I had known about the existence of this band for a couple of years or so now, and I saw them live in 2006 supporting my buddies XANDRIA. Back to 'Identity', this is a very good melodic hard rock album, by a band that should not only take Europe, but the world by storm with this release. I won't list the best tracks as they are all that good. I can only puzzle at the fact why the bigger labels tend to ignore the talent that the UK obviously has. The production is spot on, and with mixing by Karl Groom (of UK Prog metallers Threshold), this cd is a winner.
