Album Notes
Wanderlest is a compilation of original solo cello pieces written and performed by Lisa Anne Kelly. Most of the pieces were composed in the last three years.

Lisa began to compose the title track, Wanderlest, one February during an intense session of improvising. She later discovered her recording of the session and formed it into the five short movements on the album. Wanderlest is her longest composition to date and is inspired by the classical music repertoire for the cello, which she studied extensively while in high school.

Decadent Calling, Run Right in, Waltz to the Gate, and Waldorf the Great are upbeat folk inspired pieces on the album. Growing up, Lisa played folk music in her family's band, and these pieces are in the style of the folk music she has played.

The Forager and Of Course were composed around the same time and are contemplative and beautiful pieces with great depth.

The Little Grey Kitten is a simple and playful melody written by Lisa for her lovely grey cat, named Diggy. Lisa met Diggy in high school when he was a young cat and they spent many hours playing outside together. Diggy now resides in the Kelly household, and Lisa frequently comes home to visit. On one of her visits home, she began singing this melody to Diggy and it became his song.

Lisa began studying music on the piano early in grade school, and in late grade school began playing the cello. She continued on both instruments until high school, when she decided to focus on the cello. As a student, Lisa played the cello in her school's orchestra, various community orchestras, at summer music camps, and in several different string quartets.

In addition to playing in her family's band, as a student she and her father (on guitar) performed and recorded folk and rock music.

In middle school, Lisa began to write music. Her first piece for cello was heavily inspired by The Beatles, one of her favorite rock groups. She went on to write several small pieces and experiment with computer synthesizers as a hobby.

Lisa took a brief break from music when she began college. On breaks, she would come home and get out the cello, and many evenings at college she would get song ideas which she would record on her voice recorder and later take home to try out on the cello.

During a recent semester, she began doing more with the cello and wrote several of the pieces which are on this album. Lisa continues her studies in addition to writing, playing, recording, and occasionally performing her music for the cello.
