ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lisa Graciano is a Balinese-born Berkeley-based singer/songwriter, guitar player and multi-instrumentalist (flutes and non-western instruments). Lisa is a songstress, who spices up her blend of folk, blues and acoustic oriented music with flavors of reggae, rock, pop and gamelan. Lisa began playing her songs of peace and love with a one world theme in the clubs of Amsterdam, accompanying herself on semi-acoustic guitar, applying open-tuning, finger-picking and slide technique to support her strong and clear vocal lines. Growing up in Indonesia, Philippines and Singapore and having lived half of her life in Holland, she is a manifestation of the influence of American and British pop music on young people in Southeast Asia and Europe.

Reviews of Live Performances:

"If I may say: a woman with balls! Wow, she played some blues songs, mixed with country, in a very strong fingerpicking style combined with a bottleneck slide. You got to heat that. She’s got personality and treated us to a convincing performance." - Ton Jenner in http://denhaagsongwritersguild.blogspot.com , March 28, 2007.

“Lisa Graciano sang an earnest ode to the "Seeds of Life." And following all this dirt worship came a five-course meal, using veggies sprouted from Kenney Cottage Garden's soil.” - an article entitled 'Digging the Dirt Dinner at eVe' in SF Weekly by Jesse Hirsch, Mar. 21 2011. Reviews of THE SINGLES cd:

"Several sides of Graciano comes to show on this ep, that has entirely original compositions. She is in good company of local musicians and also plays the guitar herself. The sounds of the recordings are a bit raw, and you get a nice impression of live-in-the-studio recordings.....Graciano has a good blues voice that works fine along with her influences....." - Gert-Ove Fridlund in Hallandsposten, Sweden, Nov. 25, 2005 issue.

"Four singles from Lisa Graciano comprise this quick low-budget EP. While the production does suffer from the lack of a true budget, it gets by. Her vocals are strong and bar-tested. The songs come out as a mish-mash of blues, rock, pop, and groove. I enjoy her lyrics which are very much personal reflections. But her guitar playing is truly special. Check her out folks." - J-Sin in Smother Magazine, January 2006.
