Album Notes
Have you been to the Chicken Shack?
Sure ya have!
It's where the music is served up hot and greasy, just like the crowd.
It's where the beer line is as long as the line to the ladies room and the smell of fried chicken and pomade is in the air.
There's a chicken shack in every town that offers up some down home entertainment along with their down home recipies and Lisa & Her Kin are dedicating "Chicken Shack" to all those who frequent the neighborhood honky tonk juke joint lookin' for love, a cold beer and one more dance-not nescessarily in that order.

Lisa Miller is a published songwriter who has received international acclaim with her band Lisa & Her Kin which includes her brother Ian on lead guitar, providing additional vocals and co-writing the original tunes that appear on their new release “Chicken Shack”.

After their CD ”Two Weeks In Texas” was released in 2004 the siblings began writing and singing together with great success . Influenced by many of the greats in honky tonk, rockabilly and blues, Lisa and Ian’s vocal harmonies
remind their audience of other great classic country and rockabilly sibling duos of the past-such as The Collins Kids, The Wilburn Brothers,Jim & Jessie McReynolds and the like. Their energy on stage is addictive and it doesn’t take long before the dance floor is full!
Accompanied by the best in the Northwest on drums, bass and pedal steel, the Kin have garnered the respect of the roots music community.

Some of the "Kin’s most recent accomplishments:

Their brand new CD "Chicken Shack" recorded At Audible Alchemy with 10 original tunes and 2 surprising covers- it's almost like seeing them live!

“I Miss Texas” music video produced and directed by award winning Filmmakers at Faraway film, viewed all over the world on the web.

Lisa & Ian wrote and performed original music for filmakers Dawn Smallman and Greg Snider of Faraway Film Inc. for their award winning Independent film documentary "Ridin' & Rhymin' .

Lisa & Her Kin are featured in the Jackie Weismann Documentary “Rock & Roll Mamas to be released in the Fall of 2007 and is accompanied by a compilation CD with their recording of their original song “Hillbilly Betty”.

A few Press quotes:
" It really is vintage sounding Country with that thumping rockabilly beat."
- Stewart Fenwick, Country Music & Dance inScotland

Lisa has a kind of rough and tumble voice, and style that is straight country/honky tonk.
We all know there's not enough of it around any more!
- MB Blue Suede News MagazineBl

This band can whip out bluesy country-tonk with a powerful amount of soul.
They lay down some hot licks and give us dance hall music so real you can smell the beer and cigarettes."
- Kathy Coleman Take Country Back

This is a versatile band that has set itself the task of performing in traditional tones. They have succeeded. Always in the foreground are the traditional country sounds of steel guitar, honky tonk piano
and naturally Lisa's prominant, somewhat smokey and dark voice....
Altogether we hear one first-rate mixture of lively and tranquil traditional country ballads. For fans of the tradition it's an absolute must!
- Iris Paech Western Mail Magazine:Specialist magazine for Country and Western Culture,

"Honky-tonk reliables Lisa and Her Kin play music that's often as sad and lonesome in subject matter as it is earnest in conviction. Theirs is the kind of simple, country music--all steel guitars, fiddles and Lisa's rough,
twangy vocals--that recalls a time when the home was on the range and Will Rogers and Henry Fonda were kings."
- Kim Colton Willamette Week
