Enjoy the Ride

by Lisa Koch

Lisa's 5th solo release is a lovely mix of her original tunes and re-imagined covers. Folk-jazz with a twist, it runs the gamut from feel-good favorites to poignant ballads to songs about vile-smelling natural springs. Reflective, uplifting, delightful!

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Produced by Lisa and David Lange (Pearl Django), "Enjoy the Ride" features the stellar musical talents of Barbara Higbie, Jen Todd, Mel Watson, Dan Mohler, Jason Edwards, Glenn Lorbecki, David Koch, Mr. Lange, and Lisa herself. The title song, "Enjoy the Ride", is a soaring tribute to to Koch's dear departed father; "I Found Home" was penned for Lisa's own wedding; "If It's Clear" is about a faltering relationship; and "Lithia Water" is a loving tribute to the vile-smelling natural springs in her hometown of Ashland, OR. Lisa covers Cat Stevens ("If You Want to Sing Out, Sing Out"), Nanci Griffith (It's Just Another Morning Here"), The Beatles ("I Should Have Known Better"), CDBaby artist Teresa Chandler ("Life is a Dance"), plus a Peace mashup, and more Lisa faves. Introspective, uplifting, and just plain feel-good.

LISA KOCH
Lisa is a Tina-Fey-meets-Bette-Midler-with-Joan-Jett-guitar-chops kind of gal. An irreverent singer/comedian, out lesbian, and sober chick, Koch (“Coke”) is a deliciously twisted mishmash of comedy, theater, and tunes. She has recorded 5 solo CD’s, is one-half of loony sketch comedy duo, Dos Fallopia (My Breasts are Out of Control, Ham for the Holidays), an alumnus of folk-funk quartet Venus Envy (I'll Be a Homo for Xmas), and has shared the stage with Janis Ian, Kate Clinton, Lily Tomlin, Karla Bonoff, and Steve Martin.

Lisa has co-written such warped cabaret shows as "The Carpeters: Uncomfortably Close To You" (with brother David), and "Ham for the Holidays: Jurassic Pork” (with Peggy Platt). She's appeared all over the US and internationally-- at the Vancouver Comedy Festival, Bumbershoot, Folklife, Michigan Women's Music Fest, Nat'l Women's Music Fest, and the Drill Hall in London. Moonlighting as an actor, she has appeared at ACT, 5th Avenue, Theatre Off Jackson, Arizona Theatre Company, Phoenix Theatre (Indianapolis), and Oregon Cabaret Theatre. She composed Off-Broadway musical "27, Rue de Fleurus", has appeared on LOGO and Olivia Cruises, and actually had one of her songs sampled by Jay-Z. She brings to the stage her guitar, her wacky songs, and her musings on being a woman… from middle age to mammograms to singing vulvas.

“Hearing Seattle’s Lisa Koch is one of life’s wickedest pleasures… her brand of absurd confessional comedy is clearly resonating with millions of fans.” --Curve Magazine

“Koch’s talents seem to know no bounds as she goes from gut-busting comedy into an introspective beautiful medley and back again…” – Broadway World

"...Lisa Koch picks up where Bette Midler left off..." --Music Connection
