Lisa Mychols is 'Ready for Action'
The album Lisa Mychols 3 bolts out the gate full-throttle and roars in overdrive to the fade out of its final note. It melds the manic urgency of punk with the soaring euphoria of power-pop that grabs the heart and never lets go. Often, its bite is reminiscent of that found on The Beatles’ Rubber Soul and Revolver. It rockets through its mod universe with the thrust of The Plimsouls' "A Million Miles Away" and the fun factor of Bad Finger's "No Matter What." The Go-Gos only pegged the energy meter like this a few times in their career. The dulcet-toned Mychols' command of her vocals is that of a seasoned doyenne who effortlessly seduces the ear with an irresistibly girlish charm. The beat is so explosive, so relentless, that if you played this album in a cemetery, skeletons would breach their graves and start gyrating all over the place. The production is so startlingly crisp you’d swear the band was actually performing inside your head. Lisa Mychols 3 is infectious in a way that emboldens the spirit and electrifies the soul. If you listen to this collection and haven't vaulted from your seat to start dancing by the first chorus of the first song, it could only be because you're just a head in a jar sitting next to Walt Disney.
