ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
ESTRANGED (EP) is the third solo record release of Lisa Said, Egyptian-American singer/songwriter. For her debut album NO TURN LEFT BEHIND released 2016, Said focused on recording textured folk and sad songs that represented the intersection of her roots having grown up in Tennessee in a first-generation immigrant family. In ESTRANGED, she delves into her '70s rock influences and her situation to bring out the more raw side of her music.

Living in Washington, D.C., Said produced and recorded these songs with legendary punk producer/engineer Don Zientara at Inner Ear Studio with the help of local musical talent (Andrew Toy, Andrew Cox) as well as long distance musical contributions (Seth Kauffman, Joel Schantz, Jason Kingsland).

The songs on ESTRANGED were written during a colorful two years of separation, dating, and recording her solo debut album. This time around, she brought out her rock and power-pop edge and influences—Rolling Stones, The Who, Faces, Velvet Underground, etc. In addition, Said wanted to get these songs recorded and out as soon as possible, and, as a result, she could be more herself in the resulting sound: obsessive yet impatient, punchy, and rough around the edges.
