ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The latest release of Idlers Corner Records features the vocal cuts Marshall Neeko has done in collaboration with Little Kirk accompanied by its dub versions. And thus this is an EP release in so-called ‘Showcase’ style. The Waterhouse singing style was originated by Don Carlos and Michael Rose, with the “Black Uhuru Showcase” album being regarded as a defining album for this vocal style. In quite a few tracks of the album, Little Kirk utilizes Michael Rose’s signature scat “Tu Tu Tweng” and other related scats as if to express that he’s also a singer from the Waterhouse district. Musically the listener, as could be expected, is treated to real nice sounding original digi roots riddims. Vocally Little Kirk shows that he’s still in good shape and also lyrically he doesn’t disappoint. Tracks that instantly strike a chord are “Free Up”, “Give Jah The Praise”, the title track “Truly Great”, and “How Long”.
