ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
With "Of Mind and Matter" (Eclectone Records) Little Man has combined the big hooks of classic Brit-Pop with something uniquely fresh. Recorded in an old hunting lodge in Chicago with producer Ed Tinley (Liz Phair, Ike Reilly), "Of Mind and Matter" takes the listener into a world of wonder. Traces of Led Zeppelin, T.Rex, the Kinks and David Bowie can be found in songs like "Don't Pray to Fantasy," "Talisman," “Get It To Ground” and "Not Quite so High." Also for the first time featuring strings on a Little Man album.

The previous year, Little Man's third album "Soulful Automatic" generated a great buzz in Minneapolis. The City Pages declared Little Man The Best Rock Band of 2007 with a full cover story and The Minnesota Music Academy nominated Little Man's Chris Perricelli with Guitarist of the Year. "Of Mind and Matter" continues "Soulful Automatic's" tradition of driving rockers and swoon-worthy melodicism.

Chris Perricelli - Vocals, guitars, harmonica, percussion
Andy Ferkinhoff - Bass
Dave Cottini - Drums
Ed Tinley - Keyboards
Anne Harris - Violin
Dennis Connor - Cello

Strings arranged by C. Perricelli, E. Tinley, A. Harris and D. Connor.

My beautiful wife for her styling talents, inspiration and for keeping me on the path. Scott, Martin and Mark at Eclectone. Andy Everett for booking. Willis for his happiness. Seal of Secrecy is in memory of Stephan Olson.

Songs and music written by Chris Perricelli. Produced and recorded by Ed Tinley.
Recorded in Libertyville and Chicago, IL. Mastered by Dave Gardner at Magneto, Minneapolis, MN. BMI

The real,
What is perceived through the eyes,
Is my own,
And with the huge world I live in,
Inside my mind,
I make it smaller,
Until it disappears.

REVIEWS:

"The 5-foot-2 rocker exudes confidence and energy on stage, bearing a charisma that's much bigger than he is.... Man, what a rock star." - C. Riemenschneider, Star Tribune.

"Equal parts Bowie and Bodhisattva, Chris Perricelli mixes spiritual insight with massive riffs for maximum impact..." - R.V. Alstyne, The Onion.

"...he's got some serious guitar chops, and man, guitar heroism is a lost art. Perricelli and his band pull it off admirably." - S. McPherson, The Pulse.

"The best singer-guitarist to call St. Paul home since Bob Mould"
- P. Scholtes, The City Pages.

"Little Man's Chris Perricelli was kidnapped by aliens in 1978 while he was driving his Camaro listening to T. Rex on his 8-Track player, and was recently returned to Earth, but no one told him he was gone for nearly 30 years -- and that is why we love him so much." - Dave Rachac, HowWasTheShow.com.

“…his rock 'n' roll heart and talent are greater than his diminutive stature. Like Jeff Tweedy, Perricelli perches on that place where Paul Westerberg meets classic rock 'n' glam, while his vocals seek a vein between T. Rex and Dave Davies turn at the mic.”
- Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover. Issue # 61 (NYC)

“fucking awesome!!!” - Brianxiv -Louis XIV

“The guitar playing is on point here and quite an impressive recording to hear. Also, the vocals are very different, but so very good with a wide array of ranges goin’ on. Perricelli’s one-of-a-kind voice definitely jives well with the classic-rock feel—it just works, man. There are loads of nice melodies added into sweet-sounding, harmonized choruses. Again, it just works.” - Jimmy Rae, Skope Magazine

“Little Man does with a number of tracks on “Of Mind and Matter” what Oasis strove so hard to do during the mid nineties: make an updated bit of Beatles-infused pop that spoke just as well to current music fans as it would to fans of the earlier London scene. Whether or not you are a fan of the styles I have mentioned here, if you have any love for a hard-working and great-sounding independent act, it would be the best to check out Little Man, and to purchase a copy of “Of Mind and Matter” as soon as you possibly can.”
