Liz de Lise is a singer and songwriter for guitar and voice. Her songs capture the common human experience through eloquent, evocative lyrics and intricate guitar. de Lise’s music is at once witty and moving.
After receiving a research grant as an undergraduate student at Connecticut College, de Lise headed to Portland, Oregon where she spent the summer interviewing and observing the street kids that passed through town. The songs on To & Fro are de Lise’s interpretations of stories told to her by the street kids.
To & Fro is a personal look into the lives of those living on the fringes of society. de Lise brings to bear the common struggles of those coming of age in a rapidly changing society. The songs are fantastical, each a mini adventure, though all the stories are true.
Liz has shaped and molded these songs over the past 8 months to become the living, breathing musical stories they are today. To & Fro is an Americana-Pop album with sprinklings of jazz and folk influences.
To & Fro is this year's only album where you'll hear chains, concert bass drum, marimba, accordion and mandolin.
Additionally, de Lise is a singer with David Dorfman Dance and the front-woman in Camp (EP Vol. II to be released Summer 2014).
“…mark my words—you will hear from Liz de Lise in the future. She is going places.”
