ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Baguettes are the project of songwriter, lead singer, and guitarist Liz Bagby. In addition to guitar and vocals, she has played bass, piano, and banjo on various songs.

Bagby, a multidisciplinary artist, has worked for years in Chicago’s rich theater scene as a performer, musician, and writer. She has composed and arranged music for over a dozen shows, including Strange Tree Group’s Three Faces of Dr. Crippen (Jeff Award, Best New Work; Best of NY Fringe 2014). An award-winning playwright and poet, she was one of 27 artists selected to take part in the 2014 Arctic Circle Arts Expedition, a residency aboard a tall-mast ship exploring the fjords and glaciers of Svalbard. Current projects include directing the roots music for The Ballad of Romeo and Juliet, the debut production of Asheville’s American Myth Center.

Theater brought the members of the Baguettes together. Bagby first played music with bassist Thomas Zeitner in Strange Tree’s 2008 production of The Mysterious Elephant; the two also played in the onstage bands for Hey! Mr. Spaceman! and—joined by drummer/guitarist Zachary Sigelko—The Dead Prince. Rounding out the core quartet is Charlie Crane (of the Parasites and the Dyes) on lead guitar and drums. Guest contributors have included Sarah Scanlon (keyboards and vocals), Liesl Downey (vocals), Scott Cupper (French horn), and Andy Miles (drums).
