Album Notes
“When it comes to salt-of-the-earth working-class roots-rock, groups don't come much more solid than LL Cooper, the semi-eponymous band led by Houston/Austin roots vet Larry Cooper… On Old Hardin Store Road, Cooper proved his (Houston Press) Best Songwriter nomination is no joke. His soulful, semi-psychedelic roots-rock (Stones, Son Volt, Neil Young) is set to return on his follow-up LP Tucson… Reminiscent of the Bottle Rockets, Uncle Tupelo/Son Volt and Alejandro Escovedo, Cooper's not kidding around on lyrics like ‘When the bottle’s your only friend, you're coughing up the blood, and your lungs will start to flood’….

Chris Gray, Houston Press

“Larry Cooper possesses the kind of voice that sticks with you; it's deep, dark, with a touch of sly sarcasm.”

Sara Cress, 29-95.com

"...a reminder of what country-rock used to be back when Gram Parsons was at the helm, long before it had its own magazine. Cooper’s not playing to a scene, or keeping up an image – he’s just doing his thing, and damn, does he do it well.”

Nicholas L. Hall, Houston Press

I am pleased to review this cd and i have taken a long listen to it and i must say , it is very tasty .. i promise you that once you give it a good listen , it will pull you in and it will be all that you listen to ! its just one of those kinds of records that grows on you . I absolutely love it and im sure that you will too. Snapshot got me sucked in first with its melodic lead break and brilliant lyrics , and Behind talks about someone that a lot of us know who has given up his whole life and family to dive to the bottom of a bottle . sad but true in so many families ... i give this album 5 starts !!! as it will speak to the innermost of your being and you will simply be hooked on it as i am STILL !! Thanks L.L. for letting me review this brilliant record , Harris in Dallas Texas ....
