Album Notes
"Lloyd Frost has many tales to tell...(he) has recently released The Sun Is Rising and Other True Stories, an 11 track album...ranging from rock to Latin. Along with the record, Frost poured his soul into the creation of two films and a photo exhibit. While we discussed Frost’s pursuits, it quickly becomes clear that Frost has been very busy..." - Samantha Lapierre, Ottawa Life Magazine

"Multimedia artist Lloyd Frost is bringing his own brand of 'social commentary with a groove' to the eyes and ears...there’s a theme of social and political commentary running through the album." -Clarissa Fortin, The Charlatan, Carleton University

"You see it quite often. A great actor who is also an accomplished painter, or a perhaps a singer who is also a talented writer. Most people initially place Lloyd Frost as a singer/songwriter. But like a lot of multi-talented artists, the Montreal born/Ottawa resident has blossomed into an award-winning filmmaker/photographer... the award winning 'In Everyone’s Eyes' (filmed entirely in Cuba), is 'a poetic and slyly subversive musical short film about Cuba – where it’s dangerous to speak openly against la Revolución'... Lloyd's second musical short film 'The Sun is Rising'....looks at armed conflict and two brutal terrorism killings in Canada and France...filmed at the National War Memorial in Ottawa in October 2014 and in Paris and the French Pyrenees in 2015.
-Woodrow, Vistek's All About The Image

I'm a Canadian singer-songwriter, and my songs cross musical boundaries, and sometimes into other countries.

Telling stories that mean something is what I do: like what life is like in Cuba - for Cubans, or about the inside of a Goth Bar - or relationships, or events that have been seen and heard all around the world. And there's got to be a good groove too.

During the creation of 'The Sun Is Rising & Other True Stories' several great artists joined me on the journey: Nicaragua's iconic singer-songwriter/producer Luis Enrique Mejia Godoy, operatic tenor/saxophonist James O'Farrell and singer Jenna Glatt. More recently, opera singer/voice teacher Yoriko Tanno has worked with me to strengthen my voice for live performances.

While recording the songs, I moved from still photography to making my first short films: 'In Everyone's Eyes (en todas las miradas)' about Cuba, and 'The Sun Is Rising (le soleil se lève)' looks at armed conflict and two terror attacks you've heard of in the news. You can see trailers and read more about these films on my site. While they continue to screen at film festivals the full films can't be posted publicly, so hopefully they'll screen where you might see them! The calendar on my site will let you know...
