Album Notes
Dave Lobenstein: (BM, Music Education, SUNY Fredonia) and (MFA, Jazz Bass Performance, California Institute of the Arts), currently teaches orchestra for the Long Beach Public School System, and is Co-Director of Adelphi University's Jazz Enrichment Program.

Dave has been very involved around the NYC area as a jazz clinician. He has conducted workshops at local colleges and high schools which focus on beginning improvisation and introduction to the jazz repertoire. Most recently, Dave organized and led Adelphi University's "Jazz Workshop for High School Students" which uniquely took place at the well known Manhattan jazz club, Detour.

As a performer, Dave has worked with a variety of musical styles. His credits include: Performances at the JVC Jazz Festival w/ The Dave Lobenstein Quartet, Erie Philharmonic, Roscoe Mitchell, Leo Smith, Jeff Jarvis, Jimmy Wormworth, Shenole Latimer, Manhattan Vocal Project, Bob Hinz, Regis and Kathie Lee, Danny Holmes, and the Mike Fahn Quartet. Dave's current group, "The Dave Lobenstein Trio" performs frequently in the NY metropolitan area.

Dave's primary teachers have been: Charlie Haden, Darek Oles, Marc Johnson, Peter Rofe, Scott Colley, and Harry Jacobsen.

"Triple Play" featuring Steve Salerno - Guitar and Rob Garcia - Drums, is a project culminating a year and 1/2 of playing as a trio. The minute I met Steve, I knew that this was the guitarist I needed to play with. Rob and I had been playing together in various situations for a number of years and I knew he would be a perfect fit for a really GREAT Trio! Rob and Steve really dedicated themselves to this project, and it shows! I hope you all enjoy it! - Dave

This is an outstanding addition to the classic jazz trio catagory.
This is an outstanding addition to the classic jazz trio catagory. The group uses the open sound of guitar and bass to convey an attention to detail and a respect for space. Lobenstein's bass playing is clean and articulate, bearing thoughtfully-placed notes without losing the flow of the music. Excellent guitar playing and drumming compliment each other, and the contribution of guitarist Salerno's original compliments the four Lobenstein originals. Drummer Rob Garcia moves things along, contributing some excellent solos. All in all this album comes highly recommended.
