Album Notes
The fusion of East and West, as well as ancient antiquity and the New World, characterize Andreas Makris’ music. Now his most exciting and significant orchestral compositions have all been diligently recorded for the first time, in the manner in which they deserve to be heard, on this “par excellence” CD, thanks to an outstanding team of musicians, producers and recording engineers, including the world-famous London Symphony Orchestra, Serbian-born conductor Predrag Gosta, the Grammy Award-winning producer Michael Fine and the Grammy Award-winning sound engineer Wolf-Dieter Karwatky.

Andreas Makris was born March 7, 1930 in Thessaloniki, Greece. His lifetime output consists of around one hundred compositions for orchestra, band, various types of chamber ensembles, and solo instruments, most of them written in the United States where he was both violinist and Composer-in-Residence for the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington, DC. He settled in Silver Springs, Maryland, where he died February 3, 2005. This exclusive world premiere recording is being published in the year that celebrates his 85th birthday and commemorates the 10th anniversary of his death.
