Album Notes
For all of you that say we need good music to go along with the environmental movement, we've got good news. In conjunction with the Rainforest Action Network Freedom From Oil Campaign and with the 'stop climate change' actions occurring all over the country, The Longhairz Collective has released their new single "Burning."

"In your high class Ford on the hot asphalt, why you faking like you have to haul if you’re just trying to have it all? We're burning dinoasaur bones..."

A melodic and insightful groove, "Burning" serves as a stark warning of our addiction to oil and of subsequent global climate change.

The Long Hairz Collective formed in Ann Arbor in 2001 to create a unique and inspiring blend of folk and hip-hop, blues and poetry. The Long Hairz are known throughout the Midwest for getting the crowd singing, smiling, grooving, and feeling.

Jim Embry, founder of the Sustainable Communities Initiative, has this to say of The Long Hairz Collective:

"Open your ears and lay bare your heart..allow these sounds to enter and heal the far reaches of your inner that your spirit can dance in rhythm with the cosmic clock and restore the sacred connections with all our relations."

Come cool off from a scorching winter evening with music from The Long Hairz. Uplifting. Funky. Eclectic. Moving.

"Burning" was produced in cooperation with the Rainforest Action Network.

Caring is far more interesting than producing ugly pap. Beautiful!
These writers have the ability to express what others feel but often cannot even touch within themselves. Future generations will appreciate the efforts of those who refuse to buy into all the excuses for not caring. The Burning is more than just beautiful art - it is a call for action.

Leaves you Burning for more
The EP has the crisp lyrics that I have come to expect from Joe and the Long Hairz Collective. The two versions of the song allowed me to play it on my morning radio show. I love the way they combine good tunes and social commentary.
