Album Notes
Art rock meets classic rock/pop on “Little Extremes”, the debut album from Los Angeles singer/songwriter/producer Lori Lynner. The middle-Eastern flavored rocker "Habit" kicks off the album, beginning a musical journey through the heart and mind. Lush ballads, punkabilly-honkytonk, Americana, sex-rock...the album is eclectic, intelligent, visceral. Lending their talents to the record: mixer/engineer Joe Chiccarelli (U2, Frank Zappa, American Music Club), string arranger David Campbell (Sheryl Crow, Beck, Rolling Stones) and guitarist Mike Miller, among others.

Lori Lynner’s music is influenced by such artists as The Beatles, Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, John Hiatt, King Crimson (with Adrian Belew), the Replacements, P.J. Harvey, Wings, and Harry Nilsson. Her voice is the centerpiece of the songs, and it is seasoned, agile, and sensual. Her lyrics explore ideas from love and desire to the mundane details of everyday life, with honesty, wit, warmth, and sometimes fire.

Fantastic Songs and Vocals !!!
Singer/songwriter Lori Lynner's new CD, "Little Extremes", is a real pleasure to listen to. Both for the excellent performances by Lori Lynner and her accompanists, and for the delightfully crafted songs which are all written by Ms. Lynner. Lori Lynner's singing is exquisite throughout the CD, delivered with emotion, drama, and with flawless intonation. Lori's songs are exceptional. Her songs have real substance, tell interesting stories, and convey a wide range of emotions and points of view. Her songs really draw you in. Alternately introspective or rocking, these songs deal with such matters as the complexities of love relationships, the pull of desires, and the search for truth and meaning in our lives. I particularly like the songs "Statue Girl", "If I Lost You", "What If I", "All That Remains", and "Kick of Desire". The ethnic instruments from India are effectively employed on the grooving opener, "Habit". David Campbell's string arrangements are a nice touch on several songs, and it is great to hear real string players on a self produced CD such as this. And this CD was recorded and mixed by some of the best sound engineers in the business. All in all, a terrific CD by Lori Lynner. Buy it, you won't be sorry.

Hauntingly beautiful voice and songs
This record was a surprise to me. Lori is a gifted talent who deserves to be heard by a much larger audience. A hauntingly beautiful voice and a gifted songwriter make this a record that everyone should pickup. The production values of this record are equally impressive. This one is a winner all the way around!

I recommend this record with no reservations.
I was immediately captivated by the painfully honest and intimate look into what I could only assume are private recesses that most artists would shudder to reveal. Not only is this album beautifully written, produced and performed, it is a refreshing departure from the typical pretentious offerings from the "cookie cutter" mentality that lurks behind every corner of the modern music landscape. This album grows on you with each listening, mainly due to it's unlimited layers reaching down into depths of emotion all too rarely achieved. Let Lori Lynner take you on a very private journey into places we may or may not have been where her music will articulate some familiar feelings and emotions from a starkly different point of view. I recommend this record with no reservations.

Can't Get it Out of My Head (in a good way)
I have been listening to Little Extremes over and over and can not get it out of my head. The music is lilting, lyrical, and subliminal...the lyrics and sound of Lori's voice just stay with me. Lori really is gifted with a beautiful instrument. I also found it intensely, but not annoyingly, personal, which is hard to pull off. Though very contemporary it reminded me of when I was a kid in the 70's and would go in a dark room album with my favorite album and commune with it over and over again...it just has that "feeling".

Passionate, personal songwriting and singing.
Deeply felt, passionate singing and writing will pull you into Lori's world and you'll know you've lived what she's lived. This is not another cookie cutter attempt to have a pop hit, but it's a very personal look at life. The production, songwriting, and musicianship is as good as anything you'll hear on the radio, but the willingness to share in a soul-searching presentation is not something you'll frequently experience. Enjoy!

Perfectly crafted pop music!
Every time one of Lori's songs comes up on my party shuffle, I get so excited! The production is wonderful, Lori's voice is crystal clear, and most importantly, the songs are great. Lori's got a real gift for pop hooks, melodic vocals and great lyrics. Reminds me in an abstract way of Tanya Donelly from Belly. If she's not signed to a major soon, it'll be a travesty!
