Surfing On the Río Grande

by Los Santos

An album which allows us to dream of the Prairie and the Pacific, Albuquerque and Acapulco, surfboards and sombreros. An album which sometimes wants whisky, sometimes a tequila or even a piña colada.

Album Notes
Is it Country? Or Western? Or really Latin, Cajun, Tex-Mex, Surf...?
Are we in Texas? Mexico? Colombia? Hawaii?
Endless questions which surround Los Santos' new album. One thing however is sure: The musical balance act is as highly ambitioned as it is successful. Just like surfing on the Río Grande. A trekking tour through many countries, even more landscapes and all sorts of weather. Yee-haw!

To make it work the "five charismatic countryfolk" (Billboard) from El Quinto Coño, Texas, make a huge effort: Accordion and guitar ride out front, steel guitar and drums pull the covered wagon and singing holds the group together - boosting moral! With songs about love, alcohol and a life far beyond borders and the reach of law. ¡Si señor!

"Surfing on the Río Grande" is an album which allows us to dream. Of the Prairie and the Pacific, Albuquerque and Acapulco, surfboards and sombreros. An album which sometimes wants whisky, sometimes a tequila or even a piña colada. An album which tells us wild stories but also give wisdom and solace. We just need to saddle up the CD player and spur on the music. Aloha.

"Once again, Los Santos push and extend the outer limits of recorded sound. With imagination and daring, they fashion musical arrangements of vast depth and scope. Their impeccable taste combines exciteing rhythms, seldom-heard instruments and inventive harmonies in a kaleidoscopic variety of colors.
Although their humor and boldness create an illusion of carefree abandon, no band ever played with more meticulous and loving care than Los Santos. Each musical effect and passage is carefully designed to make full and
creative use of high fidelity and stereophonic equipment, both from the standpoint of recording and sound reproduction.
This album is the continuation of a musical experience which was begun with “Blue in Hawaii“. As in that collection, Los Santos here act as guides through further adventure into the limitless universe of fine music. No trip could be more satisfying."
