ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Internationally Recognized Chorus

Under the skilled baton of Daniel Spurlock, they sang the most gorgeous pianissimos and the most chilling fortissimos! Evening of pure magic . . . emotional, inspirational, and fun . . . —theartslouisville

Fetching choral elegance . . . Vigor and clearly delineated dynamics . . . sumptuous well-blended sound that easily filled the spacious sanctuary . . . balanced evenly from section to section and reflecting appreciation for whatever idiom came to the foreground . . . crystal clear articulation, exquisite balance, subtlety of timbre, and a detailed approach to dynamics . . . real attention to shifting styles . . . All selections emerged with considerable interpretive sympathy. . . . most distinctive reading of a core work (Mozart: Requiem) . . . same sensation as The Chorus sang Dvorak's Mass in D Major, Op. 86 . . . fresh, vigorous, and deeply affecting . . . responded with unflagging energy and tonal detail . . . Daniel Spurlock had prepared them well and it showed again and again. . . . He and his colleagues have every right to be proud. —Courier-Journal

Having enhanced the art of choral music for a phenomenal 74 seasons, Louisville Chorus is the longest-thriving most frequently performing choral arts agency in the Commonwealth and neighboring states. Within the realm of other major arts agencies in the area, it exceeds the longevity of opera, ballet, and theatre.

Louisville Chorus filmed two concerts for perpetual broadcast on EWTN—the world’s largest religious media network and has recorded music for Hollywood movie productions. We have also released multiple CDs; demands across the country continue to this day for Christmas tracks that have aired since 2006 on XM Satellite.

A member of Chorus America, Louisville Chorus was the winner of music chosen for broadcast on a nationwide radio series that focused exclusively on the art of choral music.

A professional chorus of auditioned singers, Louisville Chorus annually thrills audiences with a wide repertoire ranging from choral masterworks with orchestra to pops, family-oriented, Broadway, and celebrations of Christmas, Valentine's Day, Fourth of July, and more. The Chorus offers a very active season of concerts, multimedia events, and outreach programs. It performs with other arts agencies including adult and youth ensembles, and offers concerts for arts series and other events throughout Kentuckiana.

Louisville Chorus: honoring the finest in choral traditions—boasting the dynamic direction of Music Director Daniel Spurlock—refining life through the power of music!
