About this album: Three generations of Puerto Rican women artists collaborated to create this illustrated book and music CD. Carmen I. "Aida" Cruz wrote into short stories her memories of the west side of Puerto Rico from the 1930's - 40's and sent them to her daughter, acclaimed vocalist/composer Lourdes Pérez, who turned each story into a song. The included full-length music CD is a hidden treasure inside the book and includes vocals by Lourdes' sister, singer-songwriter Miriam Pérez and accompaniment by beloved cuatro player Tony Mapeyé, Illustrated in lush pen & ink by Aida's granddaughter, young visual artist Andrea María Carnavál. 2nd printing. Includes full-length music CD by Lourdes Pérez on inside front cover with songs that accompany each story. All in Spanish with English translations of all stories and songs in the Appendix at the end.
