Album Notes
The Paganini of Indian Classical music and the creator of the Global Fusion idiom, Dr. L. Subramaniam brings together some of the greatest names in the jazz and jazz-rock worlds like Maynard Ferguson, Bud Shank, Mark Massey, Larry Coryell and Tony Williams for Mani & Co.

Super Instinct is a remarkable composition prominently featuring the great Maynard Ferguson on trumpet. Ferguson's grand show of fireworks is complemented by Subramaniam's powerful display of eastern musicianship.

Breeze is a very soothing number featuring Bud Shank on flute and Larry Coryell on acoustic guitar with Subramaniam providing the background.

Voices in Heaven is a strongly Indian piece with Vijayashree Subramaniam on vocals.

Let's Talk is a powerful composition with Bud Shank on the alto sax, Mark Massey on keyboards, Larry Coryell on guitar and Tony Williams on drums.

Memories of Jaffna is a landmark piece with several intricate melodic patterns and ornamentation. It features the legendary Tony Williams on drums.

Vision in White just has Subramaniam on violin and Mark Massey on piano. This is a meditative piece combining the Indian classical raga concept with Western harmony.

Motherland is a fitting finale to the album based on the ancient raga Nattai. With irresistible melodic lines and mindblowing rhythmic patterns, Motherland takes the listeners to a whole new level. Subramaniam combines Subhashchandran's vocal percussion with his own incredibly fast violin passages in the form of a question-answer sequence.
