ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Following up on their acclaimed debut duo CD For Lack of Better Words (Rhythmic Union Records RU4867), pan virtuoso Liam Teague and multi-instrumentalist Robert Chappell present their new duo CD Open Window, which features nine new compositions for steelpan in solo, jazz, world, chamber, and steel band settings. The unifying factor in this incredible diversity of music is the “sweet sound of steel” blending with marimba, piano, tabla, percussion, and full steel orchestra. With works in calypso, East Indian, small group jazz, and classical styles, this CD’s wide range of musical genres exemplifies the versatility and continuing evolution of repertoire for the steelpan in the 21st century. We hope that this CD brings the promise of pan to you.
