ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Guitarist composer Luca Benedetti calls his latest album "We’ll Get There". It’s a phrase rich with meaning and speaks to Luca’s journey developing his distinct compositional style and voice as a guitarist.

"We’ll Get There" alchemizes gritty New Orleans second line grooves, tough Chicago-style electric blues, vintage R&B, Afrobeat, downtown NYC punk-jazz, vibey soundtrack music, and trad-jazz guitar into a distinct sonic gumbo. Select album standouts include the gritty groove-centric “Gowanus”; a dreamy reading of “Stompin at The Savoy,” and the impressionistic slow-burn title track.

Throughout the album Luca is backed by iconic bassist Tony Scherr (Norah Jones, Bill Frisell, Jesse Harris) and venerated drummer Tony Mason (John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, Joan Osborne). The album is dedicated to Luca’s longtime friend, bass giant Tim Lüntzel whose spirit imbues the music.

Luca holds a Bachelor's Degree from The Berklee College of Music, and a Master's Degree from The City College of New York. He is a prominent fixture on the New York City scene as an in-demand sideman, session guitarist for artists and advertising campaigns, educator, and producer who has worked fluidly in broad array of styles and contexts. Select marquee accomplishments in his career include performances, production work, session work, and tours with such varied artists as Ron Carter, Jim Campilongo, Martha Redbone, The Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout, Erik Deutsch, Jon Cowherd, Zephaniah & The 18 Wheelers, and The National Reserve. For his work as solo artist and a producer, Luca has garnered critical accolades from Relix Magazine, Guitar Player Magazine, Saving Country Music and Vintage Guitar Magazine, among others.
