ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Luca Ciut’s first album Seventeen Million Lonely Angels was well received and awarded at the Global Music Awards 2014 as best classical/crossover. His soundtracks are broadly appreciated, among them the acclaimed soundtrack for Dancing With Maria by Ivan Gergolet, European Film Awards nominee 2015. Italian composer Luca Ciut releases now Per Te Solo Per Te, Per Me Solo, his second solo album.
“Scoring Maria Fux’s documentary has been a wonderful journey. Discovering her vision about music and life has been inspiring, as well as scoring for the dancers of the movie. It’s one of the thing I love about being a film composer: the opportunity to challenge myself in new musical languages while expressing my own one. From tango to bluegrass, from Balkan dances to slow ballads, from orchestral to electronic. Each movie is an opportunity to discover something new.”
Even without any motion picture attached Luca Ciut’s new album feels like another journey.

Per Te Solo Per Te, Per Me Solo (aka For you only for you, only for me) has thirteen piano solo tracks influenced my composers such as Ludovico Einaudi and Max Richter. Compared to other fellow modern classical composers Luca Ciut treats the piano a bit differently, leaning more towards the darker area of the keyboard. As in his first album, minimalism is still an inspiration but classical music for the 19th century is vividly present as well.
Per Te Solo Per Te, Per Me Solo is then both connected to the past and the present. Most of all is Luca Ciut own voice cutting through the tracks and telling us a lot about the author.
“In 2016 many things happened to me. Beautiful ones that deserved to be preserved, not only in my memories but in my music as well. The title describes something very personal connected to those decisions.”

"For you only for you, for me alone. And there is a space in between, a comma. Light, but present.
There are things we do for someone else and other things we do for ourselves. And it is not always easy to make them go by the hand, without tugging each other.
Words often mingle, they want to take the upper hand, compete to arrive first.
So I tried to use a scale where the two arms felt the same, same weight. And if this did not happen, I would start again, to weigh.
Because this album is also: for me only for me, for you alone. "
