ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Growing up in the heart of the Appalachian mountains, bluegrass music has always been a part of my life. I started playing my first instrument, the guitar, when I was ten years old and shortly after discovered the mandolin. The simplistic beauty of the mandolin quickly made it my favorite instrument. Music is a tool that brings joy to people's lives and I am thankful to be able to use the gifts God has given me. Being able to write, sing and play songs that make people think, relate, and enjoy the gift of life is what this project is about.
This album is the culmination of my artistic ideas over the past few years. I set out to create an album that embodied who I am and defined my musical style. Although the album explores new and unique musical ideas, it's foundation is firmly rooted in bluegrass music. The ideas of Bill Monroe, and Flatt and Scruggs inspire me to write and record this music I love.
The title track “Further Down the Line” was the first song that I wrote for the album, and it set an underlying theme of change that the rest of the songs followed. These songs all have a story to tell—some joyful, some sad, and some in-between—but they all express what I’m feeling in this time of change in my life. No matter where you are in your own story, I hope these songs help you navigate the road you are traveling.
