Album Notes
Featured Track: No. 3 Rising Sun

The waves of a seemingly boundless ocean pound in a clear rhythm on the cliffs of a small island. The vastness of the sea, the endless blue horizon, warming rays of the sun, calm and relaxation, clarity and clearness of the senses: all of this we long for. It brings forth in us a deep sense of well-being: the feeling of unity in a hectic world.
This CD transports you to that world: to a deep and calm unity within yourself. Relax, listen, and let your thoughts meander: The New Flamenco music of the group “Luna Blanca” of the German guitarist Richard Hecks will transport you with pleasant new sounds from your everyday life to the “Island of the Guitars”.

The song “Rising Sun” appeared together with Nelly Furtado and Neneh Cherry on the compilation CD: “Café World Lounge” (Universal Music Australia, release date: Jan 17, 2009) and on the "Goa Chillout Zone, Vol. 1" (W.O.A Records, release date: Jan 25, 2008).
The song "Island Reggae" appeared on the compilation CD of "Global Rhythm" magazine (August/September issue 2007).

“New Age and New Sounds” magazine (Italy) published an interview with Luna Blanca together with the song “Villa Azur” on the attached compilation CD in No. 194 (April 2009) with the headline:

"A Guitar To Tell Emotions"

The week November 19th, 2007 "Pastis" was No. 3 on The Australian Indie Radio Charts (Genre: "Easy Listening").

Happyday New Age Radio says: "Best “New Flamenco” guitar group", Guitar Nine titles: "Guitar Music At Its Best" and on "Island Reggae" was track of the day, track of the week and reviewer’s pick as "Best guitars, best production and best mood in Latin".

Luna Blanca's "Guitar Island" is a musical endeavor that really takes you there. The guitar work on this CD is very impressive musically and has a very beautiful sound. The song "Midnight" is steady and mesmerizing like a night sky. You can picture yourself walking along a moonlit beach when, in the distance, you see a campfire. Coming from its direction you begin to make out the transcendental vibrations of Luna Blanca. Spirited acoustic guitars invite you to relax while the language of latin rythm urges you to sway and dance. Then as you continue your walk pleasant memories fade in as Luna Blanca's soothing sounds surrounds you. If you enjoy latin guitar music, you will love this CD. Pick up a copy today!

Sandy Shore Review
Founded in 2000 by lead guitarist Richard Hecks, Luna Blanca hails from Germany and is named in homage to world-renown Nuevo Flamenco guitarist Ottmar Liebert. The 3rd release for Luna Blanca, GUITAR ISLAND is a delightfully uplifting musical journey featuring eleven irresistible, original compositions by Hecks and the band’s pianist Helmut Graebe. The critically-acclaimed ensemble performs throughout Europe from larger festivals such as Germany’s sold out Bocholt concert “Just4Fun” to more intimate gatherings involving food and music pairing; the press has dubbed these smaller events “Flamenco Culinario.” In addition to Hecks and Graebe, Luna Blanca enjoys collaborative efforts on GUITAR ISLAND from famous European Flamenco guitarist Bino Dola on rhythm guitar, award-winning percussionist Sascha Popping and bassist/keyboardist Clemens Paskert who also assisted with recording and mixing. Richard Hecks plays an incredibly articulate classical (“Spanish”) guitar with soulful, sunny exuberance. His guitar is a custom-made nylon-string masterpiece from distinguished guitar maker Hermann Hauser (you know what they say about German engineering… stunning!). GUITAR ISLAND is certain to take you away to a place where your hips sway and the sunshine moves your spirit. With songs like the captivating “Pastis,” the Caribbean-splashed “Island Reggae,” the absorbing “Villa Azur” and the uplifting “Orion,” you’re sure to gravitate towards the nearest umbrella drink and float away in your mind. Lilting, alluring and passionate… listening to Luna Blanca’s GUITAR ISLAND is like taking a vacation without having to pack. Bon Voyage!
