Lurking Loops creates impressions of a contemporary, meditative urbanness.
The music is inspired by of the many trips to the East by the band's
composer and pianist, Bruno Steffen, who also brings his experience as a
improviser, composer of film music, jazz musician and singer of Indian
devotional songs (bhajans).
There are relaxed grooves containing Indian tabla (drums), polyrhythmic
patterns with subtle complexity, as well as lyrical melodies, improvising,
sequenced synthesizer loops, oriental samples and the sound of the clear
voice of the band's vocalist, Sarah Abrigada.
For LURKING LOOPS getting a good orchestral group sound is more important
than just the individual performances of the brilliant soloists.
It's the music for the imaginary movie.
Featuring Sarah Abrigada (vocals, lyrics), Bruno Steffen (piano, keys, samples, comp), Adrian Mira/Lucas Roos (clarinets), Carles Peris (flutes, saxes), Valeri Tolstov (flutes), Theo Kapilidis/Axel Nagel (guitars), Marcus Bodenmann (bass, editing) and Olaf Ryter (drums).
