ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Half of the proceeds from Lydia’s Lullabies will go to the Dayton Gospel Mission. You can also donate directly to the Gospel Mission by going to http://www.gmission.org/.

FROM THE DAYTON GOSPEL MISSION WEBSITE:

“The Gospel Mission operates a comprehensive inner-city mission near downtown Dayton, Ohio. It is open to men and women, young and old, of any race, belief, or circumstance.

Restored people can apply God’s love and power to strengthen their lives. Renewed, they can regard others as more important than themselves. Many are motivated to share God’s blessings in many ways. Lives are being changed daily by meeting Jesus Christ and accepting Him as Lord and Savior at The Gospel Mission. Practical help is physical, emotional, and spiritual.”

In our rich nation, many eat from dumpsters. Only a few purposely choose the wandering lifestyle. Hunger and poverty are often temporary setbacks, inflicting real suffering to be sure. If a family or individual can be fed, given clothing, and be exposed to the Word of God, it can be a decisive change point in their lives.

ADDITIONAL ALBUM NOTES:

“This album started as a gift for my baby girl, Lydia. The idea came from a parenting class at our church that recommended that fathers make a recording of their voice that could be played for their child while they are at work. The original songs, traditional music and hymns on the album don’t just serve as lullabies while Daddy is away, but also share with my little girl the salvation, truth and encouragement one experiences in a relationship with Jesus Christ. This doesn’t mean that pain and trials won’t come, but it means that you will always have someone there to pick you up and love you in spite of your fall, in spite of your shortcomings. It’s interesting how little babies are attracted to any light that they can find. Somewhere along the way, we stop looking as much to the light. We grow distracted or sometimes even embrace the darkness. The cold isolation and attractive independence to do what we would like in the shadows sometimes seems warmer than the light itself. The good news is the ultimate light, Jesus Christ, is always there waiting. His light never loses its warmth, even to the coolest soul. Christ, the light of the world, shines brightest when the darkness is darkest. Just look at what He accomplished on the cross when the world seemed its darkest.

The message is simple and sweet like the recording. Most of the ‘acoustic a cappella’ arrangements are three part vocals and for a change of pace, my good friend Jon Evans provided guitar on a couple tracks. A special shout out goes to my brothers in harmony, Fourth Avenue, who provided a more extravagant layering of vocals on two of the CD tracks. In the end it was the universal truths and not the production values of the recording that led me to wanting to share this music with others. I hope you enjoy listening in on this special moment between a Daddy and his little girl.”

THANK YOUs:

I would like to first and foremost thank God for answering over 3 and a half years of prayer and blessing us with Lydia and then three years later blessing us with another little girl – Faith. When I think about how much I love them, it makes me think about how much our heavenly father loves us, and I’m humbled by the sacrifice of HIS perfect son, Jesus, on our behalf. I deserve nothing, but have been given everything through Jesus who loved me first. Thank you to Rachel for her ongoing support, love and PATIENCE. God sent me my opposite in a spouse because HE truly knows my needs. Thank you to my parents for always being there and supporting all of my artistic endeavors. I’m sure you were worried a time or two about how I was going to make a living. I want to thank the members of Fourth Avenue present and past. I have been honored to make music with you. Thank you to Ryan for listening to this CD more times than he would ever have probably wanted to and helping me to get it just right. You are a true friend. Thank you to my Arbor Church family for their love. Thank you to family, friends and others who have supported my music. May God richly bless you in all of your endeavors.
