Album Notes
A winner of Vermont's premier annual singer-songwriter competition, the Acoustic Guitar Search, Lyle King has been described as a passionate and refreshing contemporary folk-pop artist. In 2002 he released his debut CD, Left Standing, which Amy Robson of regarded as "a must have for any fan of acoustic rock and any fan of pure and passionate music." King has continued to break into the local music scene by performing at many of the area's most popular venues and events including Higher Ground, Radio Bean, The Vermont Festival for the Arts, and First Night Burlington.

"His sincerity comes through, and his passion permeates the lyrics and penetrates the listener. This CD is solid work, a remarkable collection of beautifully played and sung songs. Left Standing is spectacular in its own quiet, humble way. I expected to hear a certain quality of music when I first listened to Lyle King, and I was certainly not disappointed. Many other guest musicians are featured, and the obvious chemistry between these musicians raises the caliber of music and increases the quality of the songs. This CD is a must have for any fan of acoustic rock and any fan of pure and passionate music."
-Amy Robson,

"Lyle King is the latest in a line of talented singer-songwriters to emerge from the Burlington music scene. Winner of the 2001 Advance Music Acoustic Guitar Search, King is indeed a deft guitarist; he peppers his light acoustic pop tunes with superbly understated six-string flourishes. But he also allows the songs on Left Standing to breathe. Many of the cuts feature a full band - or at least multiple guitars played by King - yet they still sound clean and sparse."
-Ethan Covey, Seven Days, VT

"Lyle is a contemporary singer/songwriter with well written acoustic guitar based songs and a really pleasing versatile voice. His CD "Left Standing" integrates really nice pop touches without the songs becoming overproduced or shlocky. There's some electric guitar here and there along with danceable percussion but it stays a still pleasant overall acoustic vibe."
-Stacey Board,

"Sounding somber but without too much sadness, King brings a clean bright voice and refreshing simplicity to a modern music scene that's becoming increasingly reliant on flash and layers. If you're looking for a good, intelligent midday folk-pop record, Lyle King is the man to see."
-Josh Davis,

A tastefull album filled with hooks and real emotion.
Listening to this cd, you can feel the hearfelt emotion Lyle puts into each song. This is a cd where you want to have a glass of wine, turn down the lights and listen through headphones - It takes you to another place and leaves you with a tingle inside. You can tell that the musicians that play on this album have had some sort of past together. They compliment Lyle's songs very well. Everything is tight and sounds great! The bass playing is incredible! The bass and drums really keep a good groove for the songs they are on. Overall, this is an excellent debut album and one very worth owning.
