Album Notes
Lynda Jones

Lynda Jones grew up on a cattle ranch in rural Oklahoma with four older brothers. She began playing piano and writing poetry as a young child. Today she blends her classical piano training with traditional gospel, country, folk and rock music to create an Americana style all her own.
Lynda comes straight from the heart, then she dives right back into it. Her lyrics explore the bare truthsâ€"truths about love, loss, and faith in the human spirit. Her voice is filled with an innocent wisdom that captures the audience with its honesty and humility. Her songs and tales unwind into universal stories that are not afraid to ask thought-provoking questions.
Audiences of all ages delight in her honesty and her humor. She makes them privy to her personal insights, those lessons she has learned along the way. Always ready to break into a smile, she is witty and able to keep her audience involved, whether they are laughing, crying, or trapped inside the stories she shares. A prolific writer, her messages reveal startling truths. No barriers exist between her heart and the world she explores.
In 1999 Lynda Jones wrote her first song. In 2004, she released her critically, acclaimed debut CD, Tangle of Love. In January, 2006, Jones will release her second CD, Notes Along the Way. Both CD’s, produced by Paul Pearcy, take the listener on a musical journey that captures the true essence of the Americana spirit. Listeners find themselves relaxing, smiling and singing along with her catchy phrases and memorable melodies. From the mountains to the recital hall, Lynda gracefully traverses the journey and embraces the entire prism of human emotions. She delivers light-hearted folk and love songs, then delves into the darker, more melancholy chambers of the human heart.
Her multi-media shows are drawn from her entire body of workâ€"songs, poetry and fiction. These storytelling performances are educational, and filled with wise and delightful surprises. She has taught English and writing for over twenty years, and is an avid equestrian.

2005 Woody Guthrie Songwriter’s Contest, Honorable Mention,
Track # 7 “Push Each Other Up”

“Lynda Jones gives you the idea of watching a sunset over country plains, daydreaming about someone you love or have loved. It [Tangle of Love] is the perfect CD to sit and enter the romantic world inside your mind. A relaxing must for all dreamers.”

“Lynda Jones is a true artist. Her songs spring from a deep creative source. Her musical range is a panorama from New Orleans to Transylvania, no guile or manipulation. Just beautifully memorable melodies, direct lyrics and
uncompromising performance. It’s good to have her on the planet.”

Beautiful, painstakingly honest at times
Very different from Lynda’s first album, Tangle Of Love from 2004, Notes Along The Way is a more personal, quite melancholy and mostly acoustic collection of songs. “A Little Of You” and “Time Is A Hero” are real classic beauties, while “One Way To Fall” and “Leaving Me Down” stand out as very nice, more uptempo songs. All in all, Lynda is a talented songwriter, with an honesty that’s quite a refreshing contrast to a lot of what’s on the radio these days. This is a record that might require some time and concentration from the listener, and probably isn’t for everyone. But it’s a brave, honest, beautiful and very human record, with a lot of good songs on it. A lot of nice melodies, “Leaving Me Down” might be my favourite. And very good musicians too!

music this heartfelt is rare
So many beautiful and sensitive songs, so many beautiful arrangements... This is music to be listened to at a quiet volume, late at night, with the lights down. And yes, a lot of very good performances from very good musicians, too, on this record. Don't know what else to say, really. Maybe Lynda's voice sounded better on the first album, and doesn't always hold up quite as well here. But the songs make up for that, pretty much, once you get into them, and music this heartfelt is rare... And yes, love is still an important subject to write about, when it's done from the heart. More so now than ever, maybe. Great lyrics, great melodies. A record that grows on you, if you just give it a fair chance.
