ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lynda Lybeck-Robinson
…is a Northwest Native pianist, singer/songwriter and educator, who found her niche and her love in the wild frontier of Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.
Her piano chops reflect a rich history of influences. Years of performing as a pianist, vocalist and arranger for vocal jazz groups, music theater, and classical music have influenced her art. What results is a diverse and pleasing mix of jazzy pop and oldies, added to her repertoire of rich, classically oriented original compositions.

As a performer, Lynda has performed in Norway, Japan, Turkey, and the Western United States, including stints in Hawaii and Dutch Harbor, Alaska. She has recently been invited to perform in a classical 4-hand concert in the Loire Valley in France in July of 2009, featuring the works of Samuel Barber and Francis Poulenc. Lynda’s teaching work in Unalaska was recently featured in a 4 page article in the Magazine Clavier (Sept 2008), popular among university educators, piano instructors and concert artists.

Lynda Lybeck married in 2002, and, with her husband, is raising their two sons on a small island in the Aleutians off the coast of Alaska, in the community of Unalaska. Her husband, Dennis Robinson, is proudly Unangan, and the language of the ancestors is taught on a daily basis to their two young sons and a vital part of her current recording projects.

Their company, Robinson Crusoe Music, features a private teaching studio with 35 students, a recording studio, and a new non-profit venture called the Hearts and Hands Project which hopes someday to reach out with benefits for piano students in communities throughout the Aleutians and Pribolofs. Her students have produced their own CD of all-original songs every year since 2007, and are active in providing music for the community in special holiday events and in special concerts for the senior center on a bi-annual basis. For more information about her teaching, her music, her island home, and the Hearts and Hands Project, visit her website at www.lyndalybeck.com

An Aleut Lullaby
I have played and played this cd over and over again. This is a very artistic composition of words and music I find so inspiring and soothing to my spirit. The Aleut language sung and taught to the young ones is so rewarding. This is my 3rd cd by Lynda Lybeck-Robinson and I can't wait for her next one.

Wow!
Wow! Your music speaks to me. What does an artist do when they are stuck at the end of the world? You have embraced your surroundings. What is being brought forth from this setting is incredible. In Ang,Ang, Song the voice of Creator Spirit is heard in the childrens voices and laughter set to music. This is awesome. You have given voice to the love and beauty that is the essence of all that surrounds you.
Your cd is my new favorite.

Impressive Disc
It really is an
impressive disc Lynda. Top notch in all regards. Especially loved the
cool dissonances and intervals you chose, both vocally and with some
of your synth pads. Cool arrangements of "Rainbow" and the "Brahms
Lullaby". Outstanding.

Fond memories!
Okay so I got the CD and have had the chance to spend some time with it. I think my personal favs are Morning Smile and Angel's Lullaby; great stuff Lynda!

I really like your renditions of Somewhere Over the Rainbow and What a Wonderful World. What a Wonderful World was one of Jeff Struxness' favorite songs and I know he would have loved it too! His memorial service was filled with music and What a Wonderful World was the feature piece.

Thanks for the great music and fond memories!

Aleut Lulluby
I was in my office this afternoon, KUHB (St.Paul) debuted this song. I haven\'t heard this song in years and I had chills run down my spine, only because I could sing with you word for word. The children actually sat still and listend, shared their bilingual talents by reciting in our dialect. Bless your heart for sharing. Stay with us.

An Aleut Lullaby
"An Aleut Lullaby" is more than lullabies. My whole family loves it! It is tasteful, produced well and is a rich collection of originals and classics. The Brahms Lullaby is exquisite and the songs sung in the Aleut language give a wonderful taste of the rich Aleutian Heritage. This makes a wonderful gift...I have given away several already. My congrats and thanks to the artist...you have outdone yourself.
