ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Lynn Carey Saylor's greatest passion in life is that of a songwriter. All words and music on 10 of 11 songs on her modern Rock/Pop CD "YOU LIKE IT CLEAN" are written entirely by her and she tackles such weighty subjects as racial tolerance (on her award winning song "IF WE BELIEVE" featuring BRIAN MAY of QUEEN) and drunk driving (on the emotional heavy rock ballad "I WASN'T A FRIEND"), but never seems to be preaching to you. Her songwriting style is one of thoughtful lyrics, expressive melodies, big dramatic chorus hooks, lush background harmonies and full bodied instrumentation, set off by modern production.

Queen's Brian May also appears on the lone cover tune on "You Like It Clean", the 1984 smash hit for Pat Benatar, "WE BELONG." Lynn's version of the song boasts not only Brian May, but also the songwriters of the song, Eric Lowen and Dan Navarro. For those who know Pat Benatar's big ballad interpretation of the song, there will be some surprise as to Lynn's much more rocked up arrangement of the song, a departure that was designed to set it apart from Pat's version and also to reflect Lynn's style and showcase the rock guitar sound and style of guitar legend Brian May, who plays both lead and rhythm guitar on the song.

In addition to Brian May and the writers of "We Belong", there are other musicians of note appearing on Lynn's record. They include STACY JONES (drums) and JAMIE ARENTZEN (guitar), frontman and guitarist respectively for popular rock band "American Hi-Fi" (best known for their 2002 hit single "Flavor Of The Weak"), CHRIS JOHNSON, programmer of the smash hit single for Evanescence, "Bring Me To Life", FRANK GRYNER, producer/programmer to many well-known artists such as Tommy Lee and Rob Zombie, DANNY MIRANDA, formerly the long time touring bassist of Blue Oyster Cult and recent tour bassist for Queen + Paul Rodgers, SASHA KRIVTSOV, former touring bassist for such artists as Vanessa Carlton and Billy Idol and a member of the house band of the CBS reality series "Rockstar Supernova", and drummer MARK SCHULMAN, who has toured or recorded with the likes of Cher, Foreigner, Pink, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow and many other superstar artists.

The record was produced by SKIP SAYLOR and mixed by PAUL DAVID HAGER, who has mixed tracks for Pink, Avril Lavigne, The Donnas, Butch Walker and many other well-known artists.

Excellent
Like most people buying this cd in the UK, I came across it from links on Brian May's website and the main reason for my initial interest in it was Brian's participation in a couple of numbers. However, after listening to the clips on here and then buying the cd and listening to it properly a few times then Brian's input is not my main reason for loving it, it is because it is a set of great songs by a great singer / musician : there isn't a weak song on the cd and even the cover of We Belong (a song I love to start with and usually I don't like covers of songs I already like) is excellent and Lynn makes the song her own. If you like good rock music with style then this is a must have album.

An artist with the potential to reach a mass audience...
You Like It Clean, by Lynn Saylor, sits at the cross-roads between Shania Twain and Suzy Quattro. Lyrically and musically, it compares to the former, but it has an edge and punch that takes away from a Folk-Rock heritage. Ultimately, this aspect, plus the fact that Lynn is a guitarist, places the music firmly in the rock genre. The tracks are of a length that will appeal to radio DJs, but this should not detract from their quality. They vary in harmonic and rhythm interest - my favourites are tracks 1, 2, 6 and 9. Throughout there is enough disdain for the traditional song form to keep the music interesting for those who reject the pop mainstream. Lynn herself is as marketable as Shania Twain so this is an artist with the potential to reach a mass audience.

Baby, let me tell you: YOU ROCK!!!
Even thou I've already listened to most of the songs of the album in their embryo stage, I didn't expect SUCH an album. The whole work is GREAT. All the songs ARE great.
These ones really send me thrills down my spine: "MILLION MILES", "YOU LIKE IT CLEAN", "WE BELONG", "NAKED TRUTH". Let me tell you something more: "YOU LIKE IT CLEAN” is one of those songs which grows and grows each time you listen to it, one of those songs which have that "something special": it's a pleasure to deal with such a masterpiece.
The album was worth the wait. Oh, yes, it definitely was!
Good work, Mrs. Saylor. Can’t wait to see you live, now.

ROCK is not dead! - AWESOME !!!
This album is great; Lynn showcases a spectacular collection of guitar oriented, modern rock, and proves with this debut album that she is more than capable of delivering powerful rock numbers with strong power chords and catchy hooks, delivered to full effect in her powerful ‘Pat Benetar-esque’ voice.

With credit for all the songs on the album Lynn proves that there is more to her than just a great voice and a pretty face, her talent as a songwriter is inspirational and has lots of potential.

A personal favourite is track 3 ‘I wasn’t a friend’, an emotional heavy rock ballad – with the remaining 10 tracks awarded a close second place. The legendary Brian May steps out of Queen's shadow to deliver a powerful addition to this album with his multi-layered harmonies used to brilliant effect on tracks 5 and 8.

Lynn really proves that she has what it takes with this album, and hopefully we will be hearing more of her in the future!
