Got a Hole in My Pocket

by Lynn Goldsmith

A CD mix of original songs and cover tunes each produced in its own unique setting of instruments all built around Lynn's guitar and vocal, not a studio session band which gives the entire project a personality all its own. A great blend of folk, country and even some blues done with acoustic instruments. This project will live in the CD player!

Album Notes
The mountains of Western North Carolina bring forth a lot of extraordinary music and this CD should be in the top drawer of the best ones. Lynn has delivered some of the foremost renditions ever done on some of these songs. The cover tunes don't sound like covers and the originals sound like they should be. Two things make this happen. One is Lynn's vocal performance. Influenced by all the music coming out of the mountains like bluegrass, old time country, new country, gospel, folk and even rock, she delivers a mix derived from all that which is totally non-typical and so easy on your ears. And two, all the arrangements are built around her guitar and not a studio session band. This makes for a home-grown flavor to the songs and keeps them very listenable.

Co-producer/engineer Eddie Swann added the drum track and the upright bass track, both done digitally and again built around Lynn's guitar track. A few specialty instruments were added like a Irish wooden flute and a bowed cello, also done digitally and then David Johnson sat in on some overdubs. One of the most sought after musicians anywhere, David only plays about twenty instruments and played a bunch of them on this project including, fiddle, pedal steel, acoustic guitar, mandolin, harmonica and everything else, each with exactly the right touch. The artful ear of the engineer delivers this mix with the simplicity of being able to hear and distinguish every instrument to support Lynn's vocals like a breath of fresh air. Needless to say, this is a must have CD for your collection.
