ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Machu Matthew weaves, warbles, and wows there stratosphere with powerful didgeridoo crescendos, emotive Native American style flute tendrils, harmonies of deep-gutteral throat singing, and alto-ecstatic mantras of glosoli; all in aim to create a journey of boundless freedom for consciousness and personal legend... Sometimes cerebral, storm-paced, other times intimate and cradling; this musical offering is as much a rebirth for Machu as much as it conveys revitalization for the listener...
It was (another) near-death-experience that gave the space for this life force to actualize... For many of us, the last few years have been direly tumultuous; from eco-political crisis and existential calamities, this astronomical Eclipse portal finally relents, and from the ashes a new vitality emeges...
For this vision, only real acoustic instruments, all pre-metallugy, were used and mixed, suggesting remembrance of an ancient dream, perhaps in the mind of a long forgotten shaman, or a child lucidly venturing into the Akashic...

There are only two didgeridoos: a B-drones Mesquite tree from the Sonoran Desert (once a Neolithic ocean), and a slender feminine agave in low F#... Both crafted from dead-standing Earth spirits with the highest resonant, artistic, and sacred intention. The primary flute used is made by Geri LittleJohn out of Appalachian chestnut, extinct until recently lab-revived, an original tree of life... Vocal sequences of throat singing are non-specific, mostly inspired by Tuvan and Mongolion styles (think Huun HuurTu), and clean vocals are mostly glorious in nature reminiscent of Sigur Ros.

All this was composed and recorded in Fairfield Iowa at New Art Spirit in a tiny video studio provided by Amarnath Mukta, who also created the album artwork!I

Total gratitude to all the teachers, peers, and ancestors that helped to bring this music to fruition.... To the yidaki carrying Yolgnu, the star-borne one's before them, to the dragons that live inside our human voices, and the Earth herself, Thank you with all my love! ~ MM
