ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Formed while students of music at the University of California, Irvine, the Pipa and Guitar duo of Wan Yeung (Ngai Wan Yeung) and George Macias create a blend of music which bridges cultures, continents, and sounds.

Wan Yeung began playing the pipa while living in Hong Kong when he was twelve years of age. He was the Hong Kong champion of Student Chinese Instrumentalists in 2006 and Student Pipa Soloists in 2007. Wan also won a gold medal at the 2010 Chinese Instrument International Competition U.S.A. He graduated from UC Irvine with a music degree in 2012. He has acquired a following in the U.S.A. Asian community and performs often for a variety of events where a Chinese lute soloist is requested.

George Macias started playing the guitar at the age of 14 where he was taught by his father. His formal studies began under Richard Flores at CSU Stanisalaus in Turlock, CA and he finished his degree in Music Education at New Mexico State University under Kerry Alt. Recently, George received his Master of Fine Arts in Guitar and Lute Performance at UC Irvine with John Schneiderman. He performs and teaches in Southern California.
