Album Notes
Afro-Polka is a welcome new recording of Maciek’s compositions, expressing his eclectic musical vision. It is a combination of complex, swinging musical forms from Maciek’s life journey, blending sounds and rhythms from South Africa, Cameroon, Congolese OK Jazz of Franco, Zawinul, Miles, Eastern Europe, Electronica - in short, Maciek.

It is an uplifting “impossible to pigeonhole” recording, modern and soulful that will appeal to all fans of adventurous music, performed by some of the most talented and in-demand musicians on the New York scene today.

Maciek clearly understands that, to paraphrase the words of the late Albert Ayler, “Music is the Healing Force in the Universe”.

The album features Jerome Harris, Sheryl Bailey, John Patitucci, Dan Brantigan, Leo Traversa, Greg Jones, Fred Doumbe, Bakithi Kumalo, Sean Wayland, Brian Charette, Kaissa Doumbe, Gregg Fine, Essiet Okon Essiet, and Sachi Patitucci.
