Album Notes
"A Dance" is the debut EP from Washington DC singer/songwriter Maddy Clark – featuring 6 original tunes that showcase the full range of her songwriting talents with backing from some of the DC area’s finest studio musicians. The album pairs ear-candy melodies with honest, evocative lyricism over a bed of solid Americana rock and balladry.

An award-winning singer-songwriter, Maddy studied songwriting at the Interlochen Arts Academy and her songs have consistently earned acclaim in songwriting competitions, including the 2016 Bernard/Ebb Songwriting Awards where she was named Best Young Songwriter. Her signature song, "A Dance," the title track here, was a finalist in the 2017 SongDoor International Songwriting Competition and took home a Silver Medal in the 2015 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. Other songs garnering songwriting recognition include the infectious "Nowadays," one of several standout tracks on the EP.

For this effort, she was backed by a stellar cast of musicians, including Matt Ascione on guitar, Chris Barrett on drums, Mike Tony Echols on bass, and Dre King on keyboards. (Danny Keane and Larry Rice added their guitar and bass talents to the home-produced bonus track “No Victor”). The EP was recorded at the legendary Bias Studios in Springfield, VA with Ken Barnum producing.
