Album Notes
Singer/songwriter Madeleine Chaplain, along with her band wrote ‘The Flood’, while the natural disaster unfolded in North-West Queensland, February this year.
Madeleine grew up on Malakoff Station, just outside of Cloncurry. Her family property was effected by the flood, along with many neighbours and family friends in the region. Needless to say this song hits close to home. Although Madeleine was in her current residing city of Melbourne at the time and unable to get home due to music commitments, she was kept up to date through her parents and brother, who were in the thick of it. Madeleine was devastated, for the farmers who lost shocking amounts of livestock, and for those poor helpless animals who would have suffered greatly dying from exposure.

The song is an acknowledgment, for the pain and suffering both human and animal have endured from this act of Mother Nature. But also a message of hope, the community has band together to help and support each other. It can be a tough life for a grazier, it will take time to recover and rebuild, but bush people are resilient and ever optimistic.

Madeleine hopes to create more awareness around this natural disaster. And all proceeds made from the song will be donated to Sisters of the North.
