ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Way back when my gang of intrepid hipsters were trying to learn the realities of music we found that it's almost like the Holy Grail. We were in that strange period of inebriant youth when the future was wide open and music a wondrous journey ahead. But on that path we learned that it was best to forget the stars in our eyes and just go play. Somewhere. Anywhere. We would take our guitars, violin, mandolin, flute and whatever else we could carry and visit friends unannounced. We played our songs, cover songs, ballads, folk, pop - at any time and any place. It was priceless. It was the classic reality of Troubadours and Wandering Minstrels. It was penance, but it was experience. It was the way to learn. And what we learned is best captured here on "Whispers". It is acoustic songs, simple and very straightforward (even if embellished a little), for anyone who cares to listen. It's just like the good ol' days when time was standing still. If "Whispers" is a joy to your spirit then we have completed our journey. For us, this is Life.

A treasure
I’ve always loved artists like Simon & Garfunkel, James Taylor, and John Denver, and this is in that class. Sentimental and unforgettable. I was humming “Clouds” and didn’t even know it. Beautiful.

Unexpected and terrific
Vocals, song quality, and arrangements are outstanding. They show a wide range of styles yet very professional in their performance and presentation. I think MagellanMusic are one of the most refreshing, talented bands on the scene today.

Where oh where do they come from
This is one that will knock you back. We have hundreds of artists on our site but MagellanMusic suggests that maybe we should set aside pages for exceptional artists. There is not a bad song on this CD. A few deserve commercial Adult Contemporary radio, and they would fit alongside America, Seals & Crofts, Joni Mitchell, and you-name-it with no problem at all.

More than expected
If there is anything wrong with this CD it's too many songs. Too many good songs. Very hard to digest all at once. 'Overwhelming' is too intense a word, but it's the kind of CD that has to sink in before really understanding how good each song is. All I can decide is the opener "Clouds" is timeless, the final track "Summer Night" is the perfect ending, and everything in between is a toss-up. Totally unexpected from a band I've never heard of.

A wonderful collection
There are so many good things about this CD that it’s easiest to say warm, romantic, and open-hearted, like an old dear friend. I can hear real emotion in their lyrics and style, something that lingers, something from the soul. As honest an album as I’ve ever heard.

Excellent!
I was truly surprised by this. Not at all what I expected. MagellanMusic is a Rock and Pop band, not stylish minstrels like this. Or so I thought. Besides the great songs and instrumental work, their vocals are peerless. Sometimes the harmonies so tight it sounds like one large voice. I’d recommend this to anybody who needs a study guide to learn how it’s done.

I didn't expect this
Where has MagellanMusic been hiding all these years? There are a few decent CDs by unknown bands, but nothing like this. This was a total surprise. Most of the songs are so good that it's incredible they aren't famous. Some of them almost made me cry. To me MagellanMusic is now a favorite.

Whispers ~ Let it take you away
Beginning with the very first notes of "Clouds", the first song on the album, I am immediately whisked away to that peaceful place call pure pleasure. This is an album that is meant to be listened to with headphones, that is how good it is. I have discovered that playing this album in an atmosphere of quiet light, candles, incense, and headphones, allows me to travel to my "happy place". . .it is a place of beautiful music, great harmonies and complete escape from the reality that surrounds my day to day life in the "real" world. I am at peace, and love it.

I agree that MM is very capable at wearing their heart on their sleeves, and that's a good thing. The simple and pure beauty of accoustic guitar plays so well to one's emotions, as do the wonderful sounds of nature used in tracks such as "Sea: The Granite Wisdom". . .

"Whispers" takes me away. . . .let it do the same for you

Another one out of the park!
MagellanMusic has done it again! Like the previous CD, "Yesterday's Children", this is a compilation of remastered tracks from their vast unpublished catalog. But while the concept is the same, the results are uniquely different. The
imagery of the lyrical content moves from delicately romantic to keenly observational to intricate storytelling. And again, although the songs span many years, the end result is a cohesive, intelligent whole. Overall, the guitarwork here is impeccable, the musicianship top notch, the sound effects understated yet indelible, and the vocals light and tenuous, yet vibrantly forceful. The final result: another home run! MagellanMusic knocks another one out of the park!!

The best at their craft
It's a rare pleasure to find an album that you know is a classic even before the stunning finale.
