Album Notes
1. Flor de Lis - Djavan
From Macei’o north-east Brazil, one of my favourite songwriters and musicians. Flor de Lis (Lily Flower) is really about love lost, it has one of those unforgettable melodies that everyone is drawn to.

2. Corcovado
Antonio Carlos Jobim 1959
My mother used to play this when I was small, we play this live every chance we get, never tire of Jobim. Bossa Nova is a joy to sing. Tom Jobim wrote the lyrics ‘A cigarette, a guitar” but the mention of a cigarette made Joao Gilberto uncomfortable, as he said a cigarette was something rotten, made him change the lyrics.

3. I cant Help it
Stevie Wonder
Stevie has been a huge influence on us all, I interviewed him twice and he explained this song explains why we “fall in love” funny word to fall, that excitement, unexplained pure joy of finding your love, soul mate and friend.

4. Little Boat - O Barquinho
Roberto Menescal
A samba from Brazil, in music silence is more important than sound. I have always been soothed by the sea in Breaker Bay. The sensitive vocals of Nanny Assis transport us to peace, relax and to romance. Kevin Field plays an exquisite solo, he is a master of space, improvisation and takes us on a journey with elegance, I never tire of his vision.

5. Blackbird
Paul McCartney
I used to sing this song as lullaby to by baby girl Olivia, who now plays it to this day.
Nanny Assis was on tour, while we were driving he got an inspiration to do this arrangement ,we all had such fun with playing this tune. Nanny vision is unique.

6. The More I See You
Harry Warren
My love for theatre days and romance, and always hope for the future.

7. Nenhum
Nanny Assis lyrics Gretchen Parlato
I was blessed to be able to sing his song, the words are so true, the bassoon solo composed by Nanny was a tribute to my mothers classical carreer, she would have loved this.

8. The Way You Look Tonight
Dorothy Fields and Jerome Kern
This classic, with dear friend Richard Hammonds excellent bass work, he is a genius, reminded me of someones smile on a special evening, unexpected turn of events.

9. E Preciso Perdoar
Joao Gilberto
Such a song of beauty, you must forgive.

10. Dont Let Me Be Lonely Tonight
James Taylor
I interviewed James in London, a tall, gentle, giant a man whose songs have left their mark on us all. Elizabeth its all your fault!!

11. My Foolish Heart
Victor Young
Another great standard , maby we will never learn in love. Or maby we learn from love.
Miles Davis - “ Do not fear mistakes. There are none”

12. Some Other Time
Leonard Bernstein
Nothing compares to Bernstein, this song moves me as time is so precious, we have each other for such a short time, cherish every day.

“When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.”
- Rumi

Sensuous anxd Sweet
Nanni's sensuous rhythms and Maggie's sweet vocals create poetic renditions of some of the best classics.
