Album Notes
Attending the Taxi Road Rally in Los Angeles, Maggie met Nashville record producer, Fett, of Azalea Music. They embarked on pre-production for several months, selecting the 5 songs to be included in the project, and exchanging ideas via phone calls and emails. Maggie, along with drummer Todd Zimberg, travelled from their home on Vashon Island in Washington state, to Nashville. There they spent 10 days recording the 5 songs, not to mention soaking up the Nashville atmosphere. Fett provided a group of world-class musicians for the project, all of whom handle the variety of styles and atmospheres with equal aplomb. Players on the EP:
Maggie Laird, vocals/keyboards
Chas Williams, guitars
Dave Hoffner, keyboards
Dave Webb, upright and electric bass
Todd Zimberg, drums and percussion
William Huber, trombone on "Music in the Sky"
Tim Lorsch, fiddle on "Iowa Moon"

Reviews and quotes:

"One More Manhattan vividly showcases Laird’s knife-sharp musical and artistic skills. Her ability to convey emotions in to every song is a testament to her combination of talent and experience. This EP is so captivating that one ends up playing the five tracks repeatedly." -No Depression

"One More Manhattan unveils Laird's versatility, from vocal jazz to country to pop. Laird balances it all with a soulful, sexy vocal style and stellar instrumentation from her top-drawer band." -All That Jazz

"With her impeccable musical abilities and uniquely quirky presence, she fills the stage with humor, drama, and magic."
-Rich Rubin, Quince Productions, Philadelphia

"Maggie Laird is a dynamite vocalist...a real find." -Victory Review

This EP is an outgrowth of Maggie's years of experience as a songwriter, vocalist, and performer. While she has recorded extensively with other groups--most notably Island Jazz Quintet and Blackwood-Laird--this is her first solo project, and reflects a versatility in both vocals and songwriting that is unusual and striking.
