Sansone explores many sides of the Celtic experience and more and is one of America’s leading performers and recording artists on the hammered dulcimer. Sansone is known for expressing both the melodic and percussive sounds of her instrument that has over seventy five strings is played with wooden mallets. Her instrument is custom made with an extended bass range and she achieves variety and depth of expression using a variety of wooden mallets, plucking, different modes and tunings and use of damper pedal techniques as well as both traditional and contemporary accompaniments and harmonic variety of a variety of instruments. This collection includes Sansone’s frequent requests and personal favorites from nine recordings. A must have in any Celtic music and hammered dulcimer lover's collection.
“The word ‘Celtic’ to me,”Sansone says, “means more than a specific place or time. It reflects a timeless spirit, a sensibility, even a groove.

About the Music: The recording is 66 minutes long, and includes 19 tracks of Sansone’s performances from nine recordings. GRAMMY Award winning mastering enginner- Charlie Pilzer (AIrshow Mastering) was compilation engineer and he also remastered a few larger medley's to highlight the dulcimer more on : Scottish Lullaby set: Rock Thee O’ Child / Christ Child’s Lullaby; A Scottish Reel Set: Jenny Nettles / St Kilda Reel and Breton Dance Set: Gavotte / Bouree d’ Aurore Sand / French musette.
Stand out tracks feature original compositions Mystic Dance, Evening Chai and Improvisation in 3 Parts with cross cultural modes and rhythms that evokes the Persian origins of the dulcimer; and interpretations of Medieval and Renaissance music and Cantigas from medieval Spain derived from popular folksong and church plainchant.

Included are small ensembles with Maggie’s Music recording artists that Sansone has frequently toured and recorded on trackst remastered for this recording : Scottish Reel Set with Scottish fiddler Bonnie Rideout and GRAMMY guitarist Al Petteway, Drunk at Night, Dry in the Morning with Celtic harp champion Sue Richards. Contemporary mix of traditional and original material leads the listener into new territory on a track from Sansone's newest solo CD Wind Drift called: Willie’s Old Trousers & The Tartan; and from CD Dance Upon The Shore , listen to Tyrone March/ Cooley’s Reel, an Irish march and reel set that showcases Sansone’s explorations into a ‘cool-Celtic’ American interpretation with groove based rhythms and harmonies added on sax, woodwinds, bass and percussion.

Solos present a wide range of interpretive expression on two traditional Irish airs Shule Aroon, where Sansone performs as guest musician on A Civil War Scrapbook (Maggie’s Music, MM236) that features Hesperus Early Music Ensemble) and also an extended arrangement with many interesting variations on the Irish air Pretty Girl Milking a Cow.

About Sansone's hammered dulcimer The hammered dulcimer is trapezoidal-shaped wooden box that acts as a resonating chamber ( like a guitar) but has over seventy-five strings and played with wooden mallets. Often called a melody drum, Sansone has enhanced her instrument with extra bridges to extend her range of notes, and a pedal dampers to create a marimba-like sound.
