Album Notes
ONCE MOOR (subtitle Magic Carpet 2) is the follow-up album of the original UK Magic Carpet band, whose legendary first album, eponymously named Magic Carpet, was released in early 1972 on the UK Mushroom label, now reissued on the Magic Carpet Records label. The original 1972 album has since become a cult collectable item. 'Based around the classically trained sitar virtuoso, Clem Alford, and the breathtaking ethereal vocalist, Alisha Sufit, Magic Carpet delivered perhaps one of the finest Indian-influenced psychedelic folk albums of the 1970’s.' (Quote). Featuring two original members, Alisha Sufit and Clem Alford, with brilliant contributions from Pandit Dinesh and Esmail Sheikh on tabla, the re-formed Magic Carpet band recorded Once Moor in 1996. The recording was issued on CD and also on heavy-weight top quality vinyl pressed in the UK at the E.M.I. plant. Phil McMullen of Ptolemaic Terrascope writes, 'Gorgeous melody, bittersweet lyrics.' This album is a must for collectors of Magic Carpet related releases.
