Album Notes
Formed by friends from Philadelphia, New Jersey & Pittsburgh; the sound of the Northeast exports, Magnificent Birds of Prey reflects the loud, dirty and addictive nature of their respective suburbs, set to the heartbeat of the City of Brotherly Love.

The techy and sometimes psychedelic four-piece has drawn comparisons to Superchunk, Pearl Jam, Guided By Voices and Manchester Orchestra for their wily mix of indie/alternative rock and literary prowess. They name check bodies of work as varied as Star Trek, Kurt Vonnegut and Pulp Fiction and hope to make good on their name by bringing in “magnificent” sonic landscapes with unbridled attack, coining their sound ‘karate rock’- a music that moves you. “We question ourselves in both silly and serious ways”, says lead vocalist Lyle, “and that lighthearted nature finds its way into our music”.

Formed in 2012, MBOP self-produced & released two EP’s, played over 50 shows spanning across 4 states and won Gashouse Radio’s Tournament of Champions award within their first two years. The band’s raw approach and passion for entertaining translates in both their high-energy live shows and recordings. There is also a deep sense of care and loyalty that can be felt; for each other, their music, and humanity in general – the band matches 100% of every dollar they make in support of Fender Music Foundation, autism awareness and many different animal rights organizations.

Magnificent Birds of Prey see themselves as an antidote (i.e. Nerdwolf) for the average working person suffering from what they call a “business suit mentality” and hope their music can act as a catalyst for others to re-discover the joy in a changing of perspective. Their newest album, Kaleidoscope (out August 18th), is all about shaking up the status quo and rallying against the corporate grind. MBOP reflects that “while the images a kaleidoscope provide are often chaotic, they also translate the light into something completely unique and ultimately change your perception altogether”.

Magnificent Birds of Prey will be heading out on a regional tour of the Northeast this Summer/Fall to support the release of Kaleidoscope.
