Album Notes
Kim & Reggie Harris and Magpie: Wonderful musicians, friends, and steadfast proponents of social change through music. Kim & Reggie Harris return with "Guide My Feet," the highly anticipated follow-up to last year's critically acclaimed "Steal Away: Songs of the Underground Railroad." For "Guide My Feet," Kim and Reggie have enlisted the talents of their long-time friends and musical collaborators, Magpie (Terry Leonino and Greg Artzner) to create a stunning album of depth, social vision, and joyous celebration of the human spirit. Breathtaking vocal harmonies and sensitive musical accompaniment highlight the timeless power of these traditional and classic songs. Newly written songs from the foursome are charged with passion and power and seem destined to take their place in the canon of the folk and political tradition. Standout tracks include the title track, "Sarowiwa" - Terry Leonino's amazing tribute to slain writer and activist Ken Sarowiwa, the civil rights anthem, "Woke Up This Morning," "In the Shelter of Each Other," and Pete Seeger's classic "Old Devil Time," for which Kim and Reggie and Magpie are joined by a very special guest -the composer himself, Pete Seeger! Other guests on "Guide My Feet" include Jay Ungar and Molly Mason, Keter Betts, David Buskin, Ralph Gordon, Ade Knowles, John Kribs, Brian Melick and David Roth.
