Album Notes
“… a strong local debut from Majors Junction. The compact disc “A Desert Oasis” is full of strong song writing, musicianship, and vocals all good things in their own right but in combination, what is the cliché? ‘The whole is greater than the sum its parts’. I really like this compact disc and I hope you do too.”
--Richard Milne of 93.1FM – WXRT

Rich textures created by the sextet has been described as Plush Lonesome Western Blues. Attracting a listener base whose musical taste transcends different genres, Majors Junction produces a diverse meld of country honky-tonk blues with folk undertones and hints of bluegrass and reggae. It is a unique sound that celebrates individuality and hard work, two qualities the band shares with its home town of Chicago.

The 5 man one woman band came onto the scene in 2003 with their debut release "A Desert Oasis". Local garnered praise has propelled the group to bigger gigs and a growing fan base.

Recently adding tall smooth stand up guy bass player Roger Sherman to the line up, the "old" bass player Michael Scott Duplessis slid over to the keys, where he is very, very familiar and tasteful. Never a beat-off, Colin Williams has been driving the hits with his drums and sticks since the early days in the studio back in 2002.

Rounding out the lead guitar role depends on the evening, any instance would provide a peek at the innards of veteran chicago guitar aces. After session playing in Nashville for 10 years Brian Wilkie brings expert precision to his vast library of licks whether he lugs his 100 pound pedal steel guitar with him or he strolls in with his Telecaster his playing is THE BEST in Chicago. The other veteran ace, John Hasbrouck, has been a national presence on the slide guitar scene since August 2002 when his solo release "ICE CREAM" received Top CD honors from Acoustic Guitar Magazine.

Majors Junction can be regularly seen and heard at Chicago clubs like The House of Blues and The Hideout, and also perform at festivals like the Taste of Chicago and the Greeley Stampede in Colorado.

The new album "Confluence" melds together a pleasurable roots experience exploring some beautiful instrumentation ranging from mandolin, fiddle, pedal steel to horns, harmonica, piano B3 and plenty of guitars and vocal harmonies. It is a musical treat that is leaving listeners awaiting the release of the bands third album later this year.

Great songwriting, solid tunes!
What a great cd! I discovered it last year, and have kept it in my cd player, since! Great driving music, great lounging music, and enough diversity to keep you interested throughout. Inspirational and lyrically complex, and just great music!
