ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Peter Makena has stories to sing. They are stories of this journey called Life - of its loves and it's longings, it's prayers and poetry.
They come from a deep exploration of his own journey- songs sung in a voice warm and compassionate, to music rich with meaning and sweet melody. Peter's music has a way of showing us our inner depth, of revealing that place where everything is perfect as it is, and we see clearly that this life is a blessing.

Songs of joyful, creative expression
In “River of Blessings” Peter takes expression to a new level, introducing his own language of sounds and rhythms to match the melodies that flow from his heart. It is as if mere words no longer say what needs to be said. Peter doesn't do away with words entirely, this CD is full of beautiful poetry and vivid images, like:
"let’s turn loose the golden falcons so that they can meet in the sky where our spirits belong”.
Or, at another moment, we may suddenly be struck by a list of simple everyday objects, somehow transformed into the divine through being named in song. Linked to the images are Peter's melodies, which seem like old friends almost before they reach our ears, and our hearts.
